ICC Use of Force (TCOLE# 2107) - (July 7-8, 2026 8:00 am - 5:00 pm)
This course is designed to meet continuing education requirements put forth by the Commission TCOLE# 2107. Intermediate Use of Force reviews use of force terminology, concepts, legislation, and models through the discussion of scenarios and case studies. The Intermediate Use of Force course ensures all peace officers are trained in force options and their respective legal authorities in order to make appropriate determinations during professional encounters. The goal of this course of instruction is to reintroduce information to students that they may have at one time learned but have since forgotten. It is also to familiarize them with recent legislative changes and court cases that may have an impact on Use of Force decisions. Ultimately the goal of this course of instruction is to help the student to understand where he stands in regards to the decisions he makes regarding his use of force decisions that may ultimately preserve his life or the life of another at the same time not exceeding his legal authority.

TCOLE #2222 Firearms Instructor Certification Course - (July 13, 2026 6:00 am - July 17, 2026 2:00 pm)
Target Population: Texas peace officers wanting specialized training as Firearms Instructors.
Student Prerequisites:
- Not prohibited by state or federal law or rule from attending training related to firearms or from possessing a firearm.
- Never had a license or certificate issued by the Commission suspended or revoked.
- Currently hold an Instructor Certificate of Proficiency issued by the Commission.
- Currently employed or designated by the agency chief administrator or academy coordinator as a firearms instructor.
- Have at least three years’ experience as either a law enforcement officer or a firearms instructor.
Length of Course: 40 hours minimum
Required Equipment:- Firearm and ammunition (Duty handgun and .12-gauge shotgun-reputable brand such as Winchester/Remington)
- Safety equipment (ear and eye protection)
- Baseball type hat
- Firearm cleaning equipment
- 250 rounds bird shot (12-gauge)
- 35 rounds slug (12 gauge)
- 35 rounds 00 Buck (12-gauge)
- 500 rounds ball ammunition for duty gun you will be shooting in the class.
- 100 rounds .38 special
Please Note: Due to ongoing liability concerns with the Sig Sauer P320 platform and all variants, the platform is no longer permitted to be used during training provided by the Pearland Police Department.
The student will be required to shoot two courses of fire (handgun and shotgun) on the first day of the course with a minimum of 90% (2 attempts). If the student is unable to achieve 90% within the allowed attempts, the student will be dismissed and not be allowed to participate in the course.
Qualifications will take place on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 0800 hours
A comprehensive written examination must be given; it will be supplemented by a skills proficiency demonstration. The student will also be required to conduct a live fire range sessions and be skills evaluated on a pass/fail basis. These live fire range sessions will be 15 minutes in length for both the Handgun and Shotgun.
Unless otherwise indicated, the minimum passing score shall be 80%. -
SFST Update/Refresher Course TCOLE 2178 - (July 13, 2026 8:00 am - 5:00 pm)
Description The Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) is a battery of three tests administered and evaluated in a standardized manner to obtain validated indicators of impairment and establish probable cause for arrest. These tests were developed as a result of research sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and conducted by the Southern California Research Institute. This course provides refresher training for licensed practitioners to keep skills fresh and update students on the latest information in the field.

The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees protection from unreasonable searches and seizures. It is the duty of law enforcement officers to conduct legal searches and seizures. An illegal search or seizure violates a persons rights and may lead to adverse consequences for the officer who engaged in the illegality. Such consequences may include a criminal or civil case brought against the officer, suppression of evidence recovered from the suspect, and department discipline. Intoxilyzer Operator (Fondren Forensics) - (July 20, 2026 8:00 am - 5:00 pm)
Fondren Forensics Inc. offers a State Approved Breath Test Operator School for the new Intoxilyzer 9000 Instrument. This class is open to law enforcement employees across the state of Texas. In addition to receiving state certification as a breath test operator, students who successfully complete this course of instruction may be eligible to apply for TCOLE credit.
Fondren Forensics utilizes instructors with different backgrounds, including chemists, police officers, private business owners, government employees, attorneys, investigators and technical supervisors. The information students receive in this class follows the guidelines set forth by the Texas Breath Alcohol Testing Regulations, in accordance with operating a school of initial instruction.

The purpose of the Mental Health Officer course is to further inform and educate the officer in the area of mental health and issues pertaining to serving as a mental health officer, to include advanced crisis intervention training.

Prerequisite
To qualify for a mental health officer proficiency certificate, an applicant must meet the following requirements:
Currently appointed as a peace officer or justice of the peace; At least two years experience as a peace officer or justice of the peace; If not currently a commissioned peace officer, an applicant must meet the current enrollment standards; If an applicant is a commissioned peace officer, an applicant must not ever have had a license or certificate issued by the commission suspended or revoked; If an applicant is a commissioned peace officer, an applicant must have met the continuing education requirements for the previous training cycle; Successful completion of a training course in emergency first aid and lifesaving techniques (Red Cross or equivalent); and Successful completion of the current mental health peace officer training course, pass the approved written examination for mental health officer proficiency, with a score of 80% or better, and pass the skills based exam with a grade of satisfactory. Additionally, the student must have taken:
De-escalation (TCOLE Course #1849) AND Crisis Intervention Training (TCOLE Course #1850) OR Mental Health for Jailers (TCOLE Course #4900)
Please note: Peace officers who completed the Basic Peace Officer Course after 2019 (BPOC 1000667, 1000696, 1000720), will have both 1849 and 1850 and meet the enrollment requirements.

This course is for operators who perform TCIC/NCIC functions at any level lower than full access. Generally, this pertains to inquiry only, including mobile digital terminal (MDT) or laptop computer operators. It also covers information about driver license and vehicle registration. This course requires the TCIC/TLETS Operation Manual Part 1. Operators must receive this training within the first six months of assignment or employment, regardless of whether these duties are performed on a full-time or part-time basis. Course in order to comply with federal requirements, operators must re-certify within two years of certification or most recent re-certification date. -

It is estimated that 75% of all crimes are committed with a vehicle and vehicles are used in 2/3 of abductions. Whether it is a robbery, kidnapping, homicide, terrorism, auto theft trafficking, or any other crime, it is important for a police officer to be able to identify the vehicle they are interacting with or know the steps necessary to identify it.Auto Theft Course - Pearland PDVehicle Identification
Auto Theft & Vehicle Crimes will introduce police officers to vehicle identification number (“VIN”) structure, locations (public, secondary, other), and methods to determine the true VIN of a vehicle. Auto Theft & Vehicle Crimes provides instruction on CARFAX for Police and other resources to verify the validity and history of a vehicle’s VIN. Students will build the knowledge to articulate discrepancies found on a target vehicle’s VIN markings as they relate to the probable cause needed to further their investigation into that specific vehicle. The instructor will use video and photographs to demonstrate secondary VIN locations and common VIN altering techniques. Students will also learn about tools and equipment that may assist in identifying vehicles. -
